The Lebanon Fire Department was established in 1830 in response to the frequent fires in the area, with a specific focus on addressing wooden chimney hazards. Over the years, the department has evolved, forming various committees to procure firefighting equipment such as ladders and fire hooks. In 1876, the department acquired fire extinguishers and organized a Fire Company with volunteers. In 1879, the mayor recommended hiring a Chief to maintain equipment and improve efficiency, marking a significant step in the department’s advancement.
